Summer School
In 1987, Harmon was given an opportunity to star in the film Summer School. His role was of the teacher who ended up having to teach at summer school and needed to help students prepare for an important test. The Carl Reiner film turned out to be successful, but Dawber was originally against Harmon taking the role.

Even though Dawber was against it, Harmon said he was excited by the opportunity to work with Reiner. In an interview with People Harmon said: “I wanted to do it just because I was excited to work with Carl Reiner. That was a game changer for me, like, ‘He thinks I can do this?!’ and that meant a lot.”
