Perhaps the roots of his desire to serve as producer and executive producer can be traced back to earlier branching out experiences. In 1999 and later again in 2000, Harmon had the opportunity to direct two episodes of Chicago Hope. Then again in 2002, he directed two episodes of Boston Public. Is there anything Mark can’t do?

Perhaps because he is the son of an athlete, in 1988 Harmon became a part owner of a minor league baseball team, the San Bernadino Spirit. That year, Ken Griffey Jr. was a part of the team before he moved on to the Settle Mariners. Mark was later able to use the team’s field to film a scene of Stealing Home, a movie he starred in.
