When we look to travel or just study the world outside of our own country we can quickly be boggled by how different other cultures can be. These differences can come in a whole variety of ways including how other people work, relax, and even treat one another romantically. However, throughout all of these differences you will find that citizens of the world will unite around a great meal. The question we have to ask ourselves is this: What sort of meals can a simple $1 purchase youthe second you land your cheap flight into a different country? Well, if you want to eat on a budget while going out of the USA then keep on reading. Here are 10 meals from around the world that will only cost you $1 USD!

Vietnam – Fresh made pho.

Vietnam is not nor ever will be considered a hot spot for tourism or traveling but there are worse places to end up when you want a bowl of something hot and delicious. Vietnam houses more than 90 million people within its borders which makes it the 14th most populated country in the world, and the 8th most populated country in Asia. Despite its lack of tourism buzz you can make your way to Ho Chi Minh City, in the Long An Province, and enjoy unbridled first class tourism without needing cash advances or quick loans of any kind. While you are there spend a single $1 at just about any street vendor and you’ll be able to walk away with a delicious bowl of fresh pho. Pho, pronounced ‘fuh’, is a noodle based soup that is filled with meat and other spices.

Ecuador – Salchipapas

Ecuador is located in South America on the border of Colombia and Peru with the ocean to its West. Primarily known for the Galapagos Islands right off of the mainland, Ecuador is also home to a diverse and interesting history. Initially colonized by Spain by the Conquistadors in the 16th century, Ecuador has grown around its tangled roots of lineage. Ecuador is considered a developing country which makes it a great place to go to get an organic traveling experience while saving on your money — no online loan needed! Any Ecuador native will highly suggest you find your way to a plate of Salchipapas while walking the streets. Salchipapas consists of thinly cut beef, pan fried, mixed together with a heaping load of French fries before being covered in your condiment of choice. The perfect late night snack and it will only cost you $1.

Italy – A bottle of wine.

If you are looking for a romantic vacation to a true destination spot then get a cheap ticket, book a hotel reservation, and head to Italy. While the romantic hot spot of the world is renown for its beautiful architecture and delicious food, the wine there isn’t bad either. For just a single $1 USD you can go ahead and grab yourself an, admittedly, cheap bottle of wine to split. If a single dollar gets you a bottle of vino in the city of love, just imagine what $4 or $5 can do for you! If you are going for a honeymoon or even just a romantic get away we highly suggest splurging for a better bottle. Europe is known for its sprawling vineyards and you’d be hard pressed to find a better reason to splurge on a glass or two.

Australia – Burgers.

If you ever find yourself in gorgeous Sydney, Australia during a late night you can do worse than hitting up The Unicorn down on Oxford St. This restaurant sells $1 burgers every Tuesday night to their eager, and sometimes drunk, customers. For just a handful of dollars, without the need of checking your internet banks for a loan, you can feed a whole group of people. Of course, Sydney also offers high class food for more reserved food patrons. Sydney is a sprawling metropolis that houses more than 4 million people, so the odds are good that you’ll run into something that seems appealing to you. While you are in Sydney considering hotel reservations you should really take some time to look over the different neighborhoods in the city. You’ll get very unique experiences depending on where you decide to spend your time. No matter what we highly suggest getting out to the Bay, taking in the museums, and eventually grabbing some oysters.

Colombia – A plate of Empanadas.

While we are on the topic of South America we should adjust our eyes just a little bit away from Ecuador in order to hone in on Colombia. Colombia is located south of Ecuador and just East of Venezuela. Colombia was initially inhabited by South American natives before Spain swept in to conquer and establish themselves back in the 1500’s. Since then Colombia has experienced a rough history which has led to its turbulent reputation as a land of conflict, drugs, and corruption. Still, pockets of Colombia are gorgeous and the food there is terrific. If you find yourself visiting Colombia and have a $1 in your pocket then head to a street vendor for a plate of empanadas — you won’t regret it. Empanadas are fried pastries filled with all sorts of delightful ingredients.

Hungary – Sweet flatbread.

Hungary is located in Central Europe and the capital of the country is Budapest. While Hungary isn’t a European hot spot it is a definite ‘must stop’ for fans of architecture and religious buildings. Hungary has the biggest synagogue in all of Europe located within its borders: the Great Synagogue. The Great Synagogue was built back in 1859 and it houses 3,000 people when at peak capacity. You could also head to Budapest and take in St. Stephen’s Basilica, which is open for mass to the public while allowing tourists a chance to enter its hallowed halls. In any event while touring you will end up hungry so we highly suggest trying out some of their $1 sweet flatbread. This flatbread can be topped with a whole mountain of different condiments, meats, and sweats — so load it up and geat eating.
